Vashti Lanya, (b. 1997) is a multidisciplinary artist living and working on Gadigal Land, Sydney Australia.

Vashti’s practice spans a variety of media including paint, printmaking, ceramics, and textiles. Her work is distinguished by vibrant colours, bold linework and compositions that blur the boundary between human form and inanimate objects.
She explores themes of sexuality, identity, pleasure, love and loss. Sometimes challenging, she maintains a sense of playfulness in her art that is reflected in titles like “Girl’s Night Out of Body Experience’; drawing the viewer's attention with illusion and distortion, creating dancing mirages of intermeshed figures and shapes which have you asking where one body begins and another ends.

Vashti has exhibited at Sydney galleries and venues, including Goodspace Gallery, amBUSH and iconic Sydney creative venue The Red Rattler and sells work online. She has completed intensive watercolour workshops in Launceston, Tasmania with internationally renowned artist, Tony Smibert, a statement of Painting Skills with Tafe NSW and screen-printing courses with Sydney Community College and Tafe NSW. Since 2019, Vashti has worked as a life model across Sydney; at Julian Ashton Art School and The Royal Art Society of New South Wales. Be it artist or gallerist, student or subject, Vashti has a well-rounded background of experience throughout the art world.
